All About Clark
Finally our leading man Clark Alexander!
What attracted you to acting? I always loved playing pretend, being different people and doing different voices. When I got older, I realised it was something I could actually make a living from and I wanted to do it properly.
Was it always something you wanted to do or did it come later in life? It was definitely something I always wanted to do.
What appeals to you about the character of Marty? I really like the challenge of being able to play a character with OCD. I like how much Marty jokes and makes light of his OCD, yet the film has some dark and heavy themes so it's nice to find the light within that.
You studied at Drama Studio London, how did that help your craft? I trained for two years and it was great to be constantly working on different productions. The more you do the more it becomes easier to do. In that time I figured out how I liked to work which helped build my "style."
What has your most challenging role been so far?
Marty looks to be my most challenging role thus far, which is really exciting. But before this, it would have to be Trigorin in The Seagull by Anton Chekhov.
What is your dream role (stage or screen) and what would you bring to it? As a Scot I feel like I need to have a crack at Macbeth once in my life. I would like to fire up audiences up with a brutal, violent production and really get to grips with the darkness.
If you weren't an actor, what else would you be doing? Instead of struggling to pay rent as an actor I'd probably struggling to pay rent trying to be a musician.
What other projects are you working on at the moment? I am currently working on a production of Midsummer Night's Dream at the Rose Playhouse and I have written and performed a One Man Show which excitingly, I will be extending for next year.
What three words describe you? Weird, happy and hardworking
Name your top three favourite movies and why? Walk The Line - Because I'm a huge fan of Cash, and the music and the performances are amazing. Birdman - As a majority of the work I do is in the theatre, it gives a brilliant perspective on actors in that environment and it’s throughly entertaining. Spinal tap - I love mockumentaries and this one is a complete classic.
